Mak.by is a Belarusian-origin fast-food restaurant chain that emerged as a local successor to McDonald’s. Following McDonald’s withdrawal from Belarus in 2022, the Belarusian franchise operator rebranded its outlets as *Mak.by*, continuing to operate under the same staff, management, and with a similar menu and design.
The Mak.by concept was later implemented in Orland, in November 2025. The first Mak.by restaurant in Orland opened in Springton, the nation’s capital, before expanding to various other cities across the country. The chain in Orland operates under the same visual identity and menu structure as its Belarusian counterpart, with slight adaptations to local tastes.
Mak.by’s logo, colors, and restaurant interiors retain many design cues from the original McDonald’s layout, but with localized Belarusian-inspired elements and a simplified, modernized brand identity.
The name *Mak.by* derives from the Belarusian word “мак” (mak), meaning “poppy,” and the country’s internet domain suffix “.by,” symbolizing both national identity and digital presence.
The menu largely mirrors the classic McDonald’s offerings—burgers, fries, soft drinks, and desserts—though several items have been localized to suit Belarusian and Orland culinary preferences. Prices remain affordable, reflecting Mak.by’s aim to preserve the fast-food accessibility established by its predecessor.
